The Klymit Cross Canyon 6 is a big, square, stand-up tent for families and mates who drive to their campsite. The floor is just over 3 m by 3 m, so six people fit, and the rectangular shape lets you lay out sleeping spots a few ways. It's 192 cm high in the middle, so most adults can stand up to get changed instead of doing the horizontal wriggle.

It's freestanding with aluminium poles, and there's a vestibule on each side to keep boots and packs out of the wind and rain. Inside, overhead and corner pockets keep head torches off the floor, and overhead venting helps with airflow and condensation. The clever bit is the stuff sack: it unrolls into the Cross Canyon Mat, a clean spot to set up on and pack down onto.

At 8.8 kg packed, this is a car camping tent, not a tramping one.
